Most of the publicity is given to the cost of social care for individuals and for society but very little attention is paid to the actions which could reduce the need and demand for social care

THE CHALLENGE OF SOCIAL CARE PROVISION IS CONCERNING ALL GOVERNMENTS

in every country in the world  population is a big issue and different approaches are being taken. In Asia for example it has been proposed that children should be given legal responsibility for paying for social care which means of course that people would have to take out social care insurance. The Nuffield Trust has published a number of papers on policy options for payment.

The Healthy Ageing Companion's contribution is to reduce the need for social care by helping people live longer better and reduce the period of high dependancy at the end of life
