IT'S QUALITY OF LIFE THAT MATTERS AS WELL AS QUANTITY
Life expectancy has increased dramatically from about 70 in 1948 when the NHS was founded to about 80 today, although there is still a big gap between the life expectancy of people who live in the most deprived parts of our country and those who live in the wealthiest parts. it also seems that the yearly increase in life expectancy is slowing and the reasons for this are a subject of hot debate. however what is of greater interest to both policy makers and individuals is healthy life expectancy, how long you will live well, independent and with a good quality of life. the other way to look at it is how long will you live with a poor quality of life, dependent on other people for the basic activities of life such as dressing or getting to the toilet on time
We are optimists. Based on strong scientific evidence we believe that
the Programme starts by helping you

We are optimists. Based on strong scientific evidence we believe that
- the onset of dementia and frailty, the two principal causes of dependency on others, can be prevented and delayed
- the reduction in risk of dementia could be as much as 25%
- People can regain physical ability no matter their age or the number of diseases they may have
- the period of dependency, in which you are very dependent on others, can be shortened
the Programme starts by helping you
- decide what you would like life to be like particularly in your eighties and nineties and
- identify what you dread might happen and then
- make a plan for your future
